The Strait Guys

The Strait Guys

A grumpy, Czech-born mining engineer and his fast-talking protégé join forces with American and Russian visionaries to dare the impossible – linking the United States and Russia with a 100-kilometer long railroad tunnel beneath the Bering Strait. The InterContinental Railway would open up a faster, cleaner trade route between Asia and North America, and would provide the transportation infrastructure needed to sustainably develop the Arctic. The film shows the efforts the "Strait Guys" have taken over the past thirty years to convince international governments, corporations and indigenous communities to approve their $100 billion railway and tunnel. Now, in light of Russia’s military conflict with Ukraine, the Strait Guys are more convinced than ever that their mega-project is exactly what the world needs to finally leave wars behind and build “peace, progress, and prosperity” for all.
